Daya is an Arabic word which means the place where the waters coming from the surrounding mountains meet. In the times of the Arabs this area was very swampy prompting them to construct a complex system of drainage ditches and aqueducts which subsequently allowed them to cultivate this area very successfully.
An hour north of Daya Nueva is the popular resort of Benidorm, home to the Terra Mitica and Terra Natura theme parks, both well worth a visit. To the south is Murcia and Mar Menor, both areas that are growing in popularity for people wishing to buy property on the Costa Blanca, and in particular for those whose passion is golf, as there are several superb golf courses in these areas.
Beach lovers are spoilt for choice along the Costa Blanca; the south east coast of Spain has an abundance of beaches, from busy tourist areas sprinkled with bars and restaurants to long sand dunes accessible only on foot. Whatever your preference there is a beach to suit you.
